Dilated Vein Treatments

We always work with pinpoint precision. Especially in our laser treatments.

Vasodilation and its associated redness make the skin appear distressed and, in the case of rosacea for example, also has an influence on the further course of this condition. In our practice we use the QuadroStarPROYellow vascular laser and flash-lamp technology to remove small vascular changes in a targeted and painless way.

Your questions.
Our answers.

Which vascular changes can be treated?

The treatment portfolio includes:

  • Dilated veins and couperose
  • Spider nevi
  • Eruptive angiomas
  • Port-wine stains (nevus flammeus)
  • Hemangiomas
  • Surface reddening

How does the vascular laser work?

The QuadroStarPROYellow uses a yellow wavelength of 577 nm. The red blood cells absorb this energy and convert it into heat. In this way, the treated vessel closes, while the surrounding tissue is unaffected since water and melanin do not absorb the yellow light. The treatment is virtually free of side effects. We can also (more gently) treat darker skin types.

Is the treatment painful?

Since the yellow laser is absorbed mainly in the haemoglobin area, the treatment is relatively painless. A short stinging sensation or a feeling of warmth may occur. If the treatment is occasionally perceived as painful, cooling and/or a short pause in treatment will help.

Does the treatment need to be repeated?

One treatment is almost always sufficient. In the case of a more severe incidence, e.g. a combination of surface reddening and visibly dilated vessels, we recommend two treatments every four to six weeks. Over time, the veins can expand again due to the influence of blood pressure, which is why, even with good results, follow-up treatments are usually necessary after one to three years.

How long does the treatment take?

The duration of the treatment depends on the area to be treated. For smaller lesions, the treatment is completed after a few minutes. For reddening of the surface, e.g. on the cheeks, up to 30 minutes may be required. A second session cannot always be ruled out.

How do you look after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, the skin is slightly red and the treated area may be slightly swollen. The swelling quickly subsides with cooling. A make-up concealer may be used as long as it is non-irritating. In some cases, a slight scab may form and peeling of the skin may occur in the first days after the laser treatment.

What has to be considered before the treatment?

The skin should never be freshly tanned because the melanin content will be too high and absorb the laser energy over the entire surface, leading to side effects and potential burns.

The autumn and winter months are ideal for laser treatments to minimise UV exposure. However, it is also important to use a sunscreen, even in these months.

What is important after the treatment?

In order to prevent the freshly closed vessels from being pushed open again by increased blood pressure or reflective vein dilation, sports and sauna visits in the first days after the laser treatment should be excluded. An increased UV sensitivity in the first four weeks after the laser treatment requires protective cosmetics with a high sun protection factor (SPF 50+), even if there is no direct sunlight. Sunbathing and tanning bed visits can cause unwanted permanent pigment changes.

We rely on the latest technology.

First yellow table-top laser in dermatology
The QuadroStarPROYELLOW, thanks to its yellow wavelength of 577 nm, is the gold standard for vascular treatments such as telangiectasias, couperose, spider nevi, cherry angiomas, venous lake, port-wine stains, red spider veins. It provides fast, effective and safe treatment with reduced side effects. Thanks to the lower melanin absorption (compared to 532 nm), it is also possible to treat darker skin types.

HOPSL: The latest laser technology
The QuadroStarPROYELLOW features HOPSL (high-power optically pumped semiconductor laser) technology, a state-of-the-art solid-state laser. This new technology enables a small, lightweight table-top system with high power. Specially developed optics guarantee a homogeneous beam profile for safe and precise treatment.
