Skin-Related Autoimmune Diseases

The skin has three layers. We take care of all of them.

In autoimmune dermatoses, the body forms antibodies against itself and attacks the structural proteins in the skin and its appendages. The production of antibodies can be triggered by drugs, infections or tumour diseases.

Your questions.
Our answers.

What autoimmune skin diseases are there?

The best-known autoimmune skin diseases include lupus erythematosus and blistering diseases such as pemphigus vulgaris andbullous pemphigoid. Autoimmune causes are also suspected in vitiligo, spot baldness and lichen planus.

How are autoimmune dermatoses diagnosed and treated?

We detect autoantibodies by taking blood samples and, if necessary, we can have additional skin samples taken and examined for fine tissue. Autoimmune dermatoses are usually treated with creams and tinctures containing cortisone. Drugs that suppress the immune system are administered orally or venously.
